Referencing Color Field Painting, a collaborative project with Access Equestrian creating art with therapeutic riding horses. Painting directly on the horses with a specially designed pigmented soap creating images that focus on color, form and the fragmented structure of the horse. The images are set against the landscape and the changing seasons. Painting directly on the horse strikes an interesting chord with the Color Field Painters and their search for a style of abstraction that might provide a modern, mythic art expressing a yearning for transcendence and the infinite. A series of prints was created with proceeds going to help fund the horses and program. The next step for this project is a fully immersive video installation incorporating large format photography and liquid floor.
